Have you heard of the flamingo parasite? It actually has a long Latin name, but it is commonly known as the flamingo parasite because of its close relationship with the pink bird. This particular parasite, which is a tapeworm, needs to find its way into the stomach of the flamingo in order to live. So how does it get there? The flamingo has no desire to eat this tapeworm, and even if it did, it would be next to impossible to even see them. No problem. The tapeworm has a plan. They make their way inside shrimp, and using a system of hooks, attaches itself into the brain of the new host. The parasite then takes control of the shrimp, first causing them huddle up in packs, and then changing their color from transparent to pink. This makes the shrimp easy to spot, and since flamingos enjoy eating shrimp, problem solved. As the bird’s digestive tract breaks down the shrimp, the tapeworm is free to continue its life cycle inside the flamingo. How does the tapeworm know how to do any of this?...

  It was Shark Week on Discovery Channel again, so you know what that means: cool shark footage, and evolution. We can’t watch TV anymore without being bombarded by references to billions of years or other Darwinian “facts.” If we aren’t careful we can play into their hands, hearing these comments from scientists so often that we just assume they are true and our well-meaning religious friends just don’t understand science. But if we learn how to think for ourselves, we can push back against matter-of-fact statements about Darwinism.    For example, while watching a special on sharks I heard the narrator make a strange comment of this shark’s digestive system. He said that sharks cannot digest fish, so they evolved a special system to allow them to do so. That was it. He said it like we know that is how it happened. We are supposed to think, “Wow, its awesome how it evolved itself the ability to eat,” and we chalk that up to survival of the fittest. If the shark didn’t ev...

One of the classic broad misrepresentations used against Christianity is that we hate science. By hating science they mean we reject their pseudo-science called Darwinian evolution.  Although we could easily counter that they hate science for neglecting the scientific method or embracing a belief system in direct opposition to Thermodynamics, a much better response is to point out the most glaring hatred of science espoused by atheists and liberals alike. These champions of science hurriedly change their tune when it comes to the unborn. Ultrasound technology, embryology, neonatology, and DNA studies continue to confirm that life begins inside the womb, most likely at conception.  But liberals are quick to brush this science to the side and remain beholden to their belief system--the same thing they accuse Christians of doing. They love abortion because it is a billion dollar industry, so they repeat their anti-science claims of "Its just a blob of cells."...

I’ll be honest: I’m not really sure what to make of Columbus Day. I know I’m not alone. Most Americans know little about holidays if they are not accompanied by a paid day off. Are we supposed to hail Columbus as a hero? He got lost, “discovered” a new land that was already occupied, claimed it for his country, then began to sell the natives as slaves in Spain. He thought he was in India, so he incorrectly labeled the Native Americans as Indians. That mishap still confuses people today. My grandfather is part Indian. No, no, not the kind from India. The real kind.   Still, I’m glad that Columbus’ discovery was made, for it opened the door for the Puritans and Separatists to come here peacefully in search of religious freedom. My family and I recently took a trip to a museum in Columbia, South Carolina. As someone who has always been fascinated by dinosaurs, I was excited to check out the “Land of Fire and Ice” exhibit. Of course, I realize these exhibits are always tainted by the inaccurate descriptions of evolution, as I was greeted by the sign that said we were going to travel back 70 million years. In the second of the three rooms I got to see a replica of Edmontosaurus, a dinosaur supposedly from the Cretaceous period. Beside the dino was this sign that read, “Did you know? In 2004 a well preserved Edmontosaurus (with skin impressions) was found in North Dakota.” And that really was quite a find. Very few mummified dinosaurs have been discovered. Then in the third room there was a map on the wall that showed what North America looked like 85 million years ago. Notice where North Dakota is. Scientists are touting new evidence for Darwinian evolution, this time riding the fins of the ancient jawless fish Metaspriggina. This supposedly 500 million year old fish (remember, all dating is purely speculative) grew to be two inches long, and did not have jaws. This new fossil discovery is being hailed as the precursor to the jawbone; thanks to this new discovery, they say, we can learn what animals had before the jaw evolved. This is one of those times where evolutionists say they have proof of evolution. But this doesn’t prove evolution at all. A jawless fish only proves that there once was a fish that had no jaw. Proof of evolution would be transitional fossils—commonly called missing links. A fish with a partial gill system, partial jaw system would support Darwinism.
